Morning, Breakfast & Brunch: 8 AM – 12 PM

Lincoln’s Waffle Shop

Open for nearly 30 years, Lincoln’s Waffle Shop is a DC favorite. The family-run business is focused on providing high quality, affordable service to the DC community. Lincoln’s Waffle Shop is open for breakfast and lunch, serving all the classics, including its namesake waffles.

Dirty Habit

If you’re looking for something more upscale, Dirty Habit is the brunch spot to hit up. Though expensive, the food is absolutely delicious- and is curated by a professional chef, of course. The spot is also used as a place to have post-wedding brunch, rehearsal dinners, and even as a ceremony wedding venue.

Culture Coffee Too

Coffee dates are a great way to wake up with your partner and get ready for your day. Culture Coffee Too is the place to go to in DC for some great coffee. The establishment is heavily focused on events, so when you go, be sure to catch a show or two.

Le Diplomate

This rustic French brunch spot is just the place to grab some croissants, or pain au chocolat. The restaurant pays homage to French culture, so be sure to brush up on your French culture knowledge before heading out. Et, oui, la nourriture est délicieuse. (And, yes, the food is delicious.)

Afternoon, Lunch: 12 PM- 4 PM

National Mall & grab some ice cream at Jubilee

One of the classic spots to hit up in DC is the National Mall- and no, it’s not exactly a shopping mall. Surrounded by museums, beautiful lawns, and the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Memorial, visiting the National Mall is the perfect place to spend a hot summer day. Tired of the heat? Grab some ice cream at Jubilee, another DC favorite.

Eastern Market

Eastern Market is a fun place to explore for food, arts, and fun! There are both indoor and outdoor merchants, with mostly local vendors selling. It’s also close in proximity to the National Mall and the US Capitol, and is definitely worth checking out for a quick afternoon bite, or a 10-course meal at all of the different vendors!

Makan

Makan, meaning ‘to eat,’ brings the heart of Malaysian cuisine to DC. Combining some elements of American-style cuisine with the traditional Malaysian cuisine, their menu offers not only the classic brunch drinks, but also delicious lunch and breakfast foods from Malaysia. With a chef being one of the top in the US, Makan promises you a good time, and delicious food.

Luray Caverns

If you and your partner are more of the adventurous type, Luray Caverns is the date spot for you. These caverns are the largest in the Eastern US. The gorgeous Luray Caverns are supplemented with garden mazes and a fun rope adventure park to check out!

Evening, Dinner: 4 PM – 8 PM

Iron Gate Restaurant

Greek and Italian restaurant, led by Chef Anthony Chittum, Iron Gate Restaurant, is a lovely upscale restaurant to visit for a more fancy dinner. With a carefully curated wine list, Iron Gate features the best of the best fresh ingredients. Their menu boasts high end meats and doesn’t forget to include a couple options for vegetarians in their three course menu.

DC River Cruise

Spice your evening with your partner up with a romantic river cruise. Some cruises even offer a dinner to go along with the beautiful sight seeing. With 360-degree views of DC’s incredible monuments, a river cruise is a great way to spend the night with your loved one.

Mandu

Mandu is a Korean restaurant focused on bringing classic, homestyle Korean cuisine to the DC community. The restaurant offers an extensive selection of wines and drinks, and, of course, delicious Korean food in a modern Asian-style restaurant. Fun fact- Mandu actually means dumplings in Korean!

Maydan

Another great restaurant to hit up for a fancy upscale dinner is Maydan, an Arabic restaurant. Bon Appetit named this restaurant one of the best in the US in 2018, and Michelin has featured them for their exquisite dining experience as well. Though they offer an a la carte menu, the best way to experience Maydan is through their classic Tawle (family-style) menu, which is a curated meal.

After Hours, Drinks & Small Bites: 8 PM – 12 AM

930 Club

Visiting the 930 Club is a must while in DC. The club is famous for its shows at 9:30 PM, featuring stars like Mandy Moore, Jacob Collier, and many more. Be sure to buy tickets in advance, though, since the place sells out fairly quickly for its bigger artist showings.

With over 8 different escape rooms, this DC escape room is the perfect place to have some late night fun. If you and your partner love mysteries, grab some dinner and spend the rest of your night with them cracking various puzzles.
